Project Name (if applicable, otherwise just type n/a)
Robert Morris Allendale Woods Tree Inventory 2026
Question
I started this project without knowing how to use Epicollect as well as I should have and added 35 entries to the public EC5 Demo Project. Is there any way I can get those entries into my own personal project?
Yes, but indirectly: you cannot move entries directly from the public EC5 Demo Project into your own project, but you can export them as a CSV and then bulk‑upload them into your personal project as new entries.
How to do it
Export entries from the Demo Project
In the web interface, open the EC5 Demo Project, go to Entries / Data Viewer, and download the entries as a (CSV) file.
Prepare the CSV for your project
Open the CSV in Excel or Sheets. Remove all the rows you do not want.
Your project must have the same form structure (same question names/IDs) as the Demo Project for the mapping to work.
Clear the ec5_uuid values so the system treats them as new entries, not existing ones.
Enable bulk uploads in your project
In your project, go to Manage Entries > Bulk Uploads and set it to MEMBERS or EVERYBODY (for private projects they behave the same).
Upload to your project
In your project’s Data Viewer, click the Bulk upload button.
Choose the CSV, confirm the mapping, and upload the 35 entries.
Limitations
Media files (photos, audio, etc.) will not carry over; only the text‑based answers are copied.
The Demo Project lets anyone add entries, but you—the submitter—can still download your own subset via export if you can filter or remember project‑specific IDs.
If your 35 entries in the Demo Project use a different form structure than your Robert Morris Allendale Woods Tree Inventory 2026 project, you’ll need to either:
recreate the Demo‑style form in your project first, then do the import, or
manually re‑enter the 35 records into your project.
