Wear Citizen Science Water Quality Monitoring
Question
I see from the User Guide that collectors are only able to see their own data (even if we opt for “public” in settings, it seems). As we work as a dispersed team, this seems a shame. It would be helpful for individual collectors to be able to see the water quality readings in other watercourses within the catchment for comparison with their own. Is there any way we can make this possible? I’m aware of the viewer category, but am concerned that moving people to this would remove their ability to collect data. Thanks

When a project is set to PUBLIC on Epicollect5, anyone with the project link can view all collected entries and also contribute by creating new entries. However, users can only edit their own entries — even if they have the collector role — which is the expected behaviour for public projects.
Are you experiencing anything different? We just tested it on our side and it looks like it is working as it should.

Thank you for this. One of our collectors asked about this and said he could only see his own data. I’ll need to check this with him. Perhaps he’s not looking in the right place or entering the right link. I’ll get back to you if we need more help.
In Epicollect5, project privacy settings control access to data:
- If a project is set to private, collectors can only view their own entries and cannot see those submitted by others.
- If a project is public, all collectors can view entries submitted by any participant, but editing permissions are restricted to their own entries only.

Thank you for your help. Both of our most regular collectors still report that they can only see their own data, even though our project is definitely set to Public. Neither is too concerned, so this may have to remain a mystery, unless you can think of any other reason for the problem.
We could not find any project name Wear Citizen Science Water Quality Monitoring, so we assume the project is named Wear Citizen Science Water Quality Survey?
To assist with debugging, we added a test collector to that project using the email address:
bar*************ia@gmail.com
That user can see all the entries, as expected.
Please ensure that your collectors are accessing the correct project, as everything appears to be working properly on our end. The difference in project name might indicate that they are connected to the wrong one, which could explain the issue.
